Blood is an important component of human life, so the need for it is increasing every year. Blood donation is often the only possibility to save human life.

To draw attention to this issue and talk about it in more detail was created by blood donor day.

The history of the holiday

The first blood transfusion procedure was held in England in 1818. It was then that scientists are interested in restoring properties of this procedure.

Later, a doctor from Australia Karl Landsteiner discovered that blood has 4 groups. This discovery led to the donation.

For this achievement Karl won the Nobel Prize, and his birthday is June 14, 2005 was declared the international day of the donor.

Festive events

This summer day aims to draw the attention of citizens to the problem of the shortage of plasma in hospitals. Each year designed a slogan, which reveals the basic meaning of the holiday is "become a contributor-save a life", "stretch out your hand."
