Time employee of the internal affairs agencies of the Russian Federation (10 November) (till 1991 year-day of the Soviet militia, until the year 2011 — Russian police Day).

28 October (10 November) 1917 onwards was the NKVD of the RSFSR "on the police". Holiday celebrated s1962 years after the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 26, 1962 year.

With the 1980 year Day Soviet militia became considered an official holiday, in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR No. 3018-Hot October 1, 1980 "on public holidays and commemorative days", as amended by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR № 9724-XI of 1 November 1988 year on amendments to the law on public holidays and commemorative days.

Holiday name changed after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the entry into force of the law of the Russian Federation "on militia" from 18.04.1991 № 1026-1: Day of the Soviet militia became the Russian militia Day.

After the entry into force of the new law "on police" March 1, 2011 year holiday name once again obsolete, and in anticipation of another festive date 10 November, Decree of the President of the Russian Federation from October 13, 2011 year no. 1348 installed a new holiday — Day officer of the internal affairs agencies of the Russian Federation.
