International day of the blind

The World Health Organization established the day in which we remember about blind people, in the year 1984. Date of celebration was associated with birthday Valentine Haüy (13 November 1745). This renowned French pedagogue has developed a way of teaching the blind by inventing a special font. Haüy was founded in the French capital (and later in St. Petersburg) school for the education of blind children, as well as for such people. He himself published books, devices for the blind and special matrices, using which you can make relief maps, Globes, and other Visual AIDS.

Merits of the Frenchman did not go unnoticed-in honor of him , the international day of the blind is celebrated all over the world Nov. 13.
