Omon units are designed to preserve the rule of law and public safety in emergencies: major accidents, acts of terrorism, natural disasters, etc., they help in the apprehension of the criminal police bodies particularly dangerous lawbreakers, in release of captured hostages and engaged in the prevention of possible terrorist attacks, protecting the life and health of the Russian population.
